Weekly Medical Tips

Dr. OZ has brought media attention about apple juice containing arsenic.

Dr. OZ brought it to America's attention that the U.S. does not get their apples strictly from the U.S. , but instead from China and other countries. Many brands of apple juice may contain a higher level of arsenic then approved for water, which naturally occurs. The fear is that long term consumption can lead to cancer, kidney problems and possible learning problems. China uses pesticides that the United States doesn't and their levels of exposure to arsenic are a lot higher than what the  U.S. considers as safe. Do your home work check where the apple juice is being processed and look closely because this is hidden.
Chat Me More has a personal connection to this finding. Apple juice is consumed in large amounts within the household. If the label does not state where the apples are from look on the bottle and it will be stamped. Unfortunately, when you do this search you will find that many are from China. Martinelli's and TreeTop seem to be using U.S. apples according to the labels.
