Avastin Breast Cancer drug is taken off the Market to Treat Breast Cancer

Unfortunately, this decision will effect many breast cancer patients.  The drug will continue to be used for colon, kidney, lung and brain cancer patients. So what does this mean? It means that breast cancer patients can still get the drug, but their insurance company's will not pay for it. A years treatment with Avastin can cost $100,000. Many breast cancer patients have stated "that Avastin stopped the spreading of their breast cancer, once it had spread to others areas of the body." The FDA reported that the drug can cause high blood pressure, bleeding, heart attacks or heart failure and tears in the stomach. Many doctors feel that drug has helped their patients and they feel that this will cause a battle with insurance companies now that it isn't approved to treat breast cancer. If you are a breast cancer patient being treated with Avastin and your insurance company is refusing to pay contact Genentech http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-57328595-10391704/avastin-decision-dismays-breast-cancer-patients/
