Is your mineral makeup dangerous to your health?

The small particles from mineral makeup can cause harm when they are inhaled when being applied to the skin.  They can settle in the lungs causing scarring. Long term scarring can cause inflammation, irritation and lung disease in women and girls. Dr. Oz did suggest that women should stop using mineral makeup and switch to liquid foundation. Of course companies such as Bare Essentials are not pleased with this claim and are suggesting that these findings are unfounded, but logic may suggest differently. The next time you use your mineral makeup watch the small particles that circulates the perimeter of the area that is in your proximity. Do you think they are ingested and inhaled? 

If you must use mineral make up hold it away from your face when you are swirling the make-up on the brush and tapping off the excess. Wait few minutes then apply it.

Chat Me More has written about this subject before after experiencing reaction to certain lipsticks. 

" Finally it's in the news that lipstick does carry lead." Lead was found in 400 lipsticks. The question is what is considered safe? "I personally would chose none."  FDA (Food and Drug Administration) officials, reported the lead concerns are not at a safety concern. Lipstick contains an average of 1.11 ppm lead of the 400 lipsticks that were tested in 2010. 

Result from the latest lipstick-lead survey reported that the lead ranged from .026 ppm to 7.19 ppm. The cosmetic companies that were tested were lipsticks by Estee lauder, the Body Shop,  Clinique and Avon. These companies are parent companies to other brands of lipsticks. The worst lipsticks containing lead were Maybelline's Color Sensation in Pink Petal, which had 7.19 ppm of lead, Loreal Colour Riche in Volcanic, which had 7 ppm, CoverGirl and Nars had 4-to-5 ppm.

Connecticut woman who lost her children and parents from a Christmas fire attempts suicide. Madonna Badger lost three daughters and her parents during a Christmas fire. She was hospitalized for hurting herself in an attempt to kill herself. The fire was on Christmas morning and it claimed her parents and her three daughters ages 10 and her 7-year-old twins. Badger tried to save her children, but the fire wall was just too thick. The fire began when they cleaned the  hot embers from the fireplace because the girls didn't want to burn Santa Claus when he came down the chimney. They placed the hot embers into the trash.

A Oklahoma bill is abandoning aborted human fetus from food. What food has fetuses in it has many wondering. The bill was introduced on January 18, 2012 by State Senator Ralph Shortey it prohibits the sale of food or any products that are for human consumption from containing aborted human fetuses.  It seems that a company in San Diego, Ca. uses embryonic kidney cells for artificial sweeteners.  The cell-line is known as HEK 293.

Soap star kills himself because co-op boards enforced anti-pooch laws throughout Manhattan. Nick Santino 47, killed himself hours after having to euthanized his healthy pit bull. His residence was at One Lincoln Plaza and the board was banning certain dogs and their sizes. It seems that many residents in Manhattan are being forced to starve their dogs to keep their weight down when they go up against the board. Residents have even drugged their dogs so they won't bark when the board test the dogs when they ring a buzzer "as if was the door bell."

Chat Me More has been following the story of the mystery illness in a New York middle school/ high school

There can be a possible link to a train wreck that occurred in 1971, and the train was carrying toxic chemicals that seeped into the soil. The train wreck was 4 miles from where the school is. This chemcial is known to effect:

Can your neti pot kill you?

Many may not know what a neti pot is "well it aides in cleaning out your sinuses." It is a small kettle that is filled with water and saline it's placed at your nostrils and poured with the head tilted back into the nose and it flushes out the nose. Many use it for a stuffy nose and sinus headache. Well it seems that two people have died from using their neti pot. The reason for the deaths are from amoeba's parasites that eat the brain. 

The water must be sterilized by boiling or use distilled water when using your neti pot. The amoeba, Naegleria fowleri are found in lakes, ponds and contaminated tap water. When ingested it's fine, but when placed in the nose it can cause symptoms resembling bacterial meningitis:headaches, vomiting and sleepiness. When the amoeba has reached the brain 95% of the time it's fatal. Death usually occurs 1 to 12 days later. The infection is known as amebic meningoencephalitis.

Chat Me More has written about amoeba in the summer, due to three people dying when they swam in a lake. The amoeba went through their nose while swimming.

Infants with Reflux

Chat Me More had a personal reason to inform parents what is reflux and what can help.

Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is the medical term for spitting up. It occurs when the stomach contents reflux back up into the esophagus or mouth and at times both. This is normal for infants and they may exhibit signs as refusing to eat, crying, arching the back and neck, choking and projectile vomit.

Studies have proven that 15 to 40 percent of infants with GER cannot tolerate milk protein. Infants that are experiencing these signs should talk to their pediatrician about formulas that eliminate milk and soy products. Thickening the formula can reduce the GER by adding rice cereal to the formula (1 tablespoon). 

Please speak to your pediatrician before changing formula and adding rice cereal.
